Dear Readers, This is the month of Valentine’s Day. It is a time to reach out to those we care about. Is there someone in your life that you want to re-connect with? Think about the people who have made a difference for you. Perhaps it’s time to call an aunt or uncle that you haven’t seen in years. Can you think of a teacher who had a positive impact on your life? Did you work for someone who was a wonderful mentor for you? Why not take some time to reach out to them? With the Internet it is easier than ever to find classmates, relatives or old friends. It is a time to contact people who have given you love, confidence or a pat on the back when you needed it. This is also a good time to appreciate ourselves. Often we have such high expectations of ourselves that we at times fall short. Acknowledge yourself for the good you have done. Look at your strengths rather than shortcomings. Why not send yourself a valentine this year? In order to have the successful business and great life that you want and deserve, it starts with loving and caring for ourselves. So, dear readers, Happy Valentine’s month and be good to yourself. You deserve it! Have a wonderful month,

Month's article It’s not enough to make it to the stadium – get in the game! Life is like a tennis game. Are you in the stands watching others play or are you on the court? If you’re playing the game, are you winning or losing? In order to be a winner in the game of life, you need a strategy. It’s not enough to just show up every day. You have to have a plan. Don’t be a spectator. The first step to getting in the game is to be honest
with yourself. Are you going in the right direction? What is your plan
for your business development and for your life? Change can be risky
and uncomfortable, but if you want more out of life, you must choose
to make changes. An honest assessment of your life is the place to start. So many of the professionals I work with are uncomfortable when it comes to creating strategies for business development. They’ll delay taking action because they don’t have time or their website isn’t the way they want it to look or they want to work on their marketing materials or any excuse not to market themselves. They are still in the stands. As you probably know, I am an action oriented coach and when I hear excuses from clients that are delaying taking action I say it like it is… It’s time to get on the court. The game can be fun when you know it’s a game. Want more clients? Let’s make it a game. I’ll tell you about a new coaching client . He is a lawyer who is quiet, smart and a marathon runner. He did no business development. He is not comfortable picking up the phone to ask for business or going to a networking event. Once I knew he was a runner, we created a plan. Runners are focused, motivated and dedicated to their training schedule. It’s a great feeling to build up speed and endurance and to reach the finish line. Why not take those same skills to his law practice? He has already started his daily action plan to reach out to referral sources and centers of influence. He realizes that to market his business he must stay focused and be consistent. Just like training for a marathon, by making one call a day and setting up meetings with decision makers he too, can reach the finish line and increase his client base and income dramatically. Playing to win Yes, playing the game means taking risks and facing our fears but this is your life we’re talking about. If you don’t do it now, when will you? It takes courage and honesty to exercise those muscles but, wow, what a payoff! Begin now to create the business you’ve
always wanted. Design your strategy for success. Start today. Remember
that success doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because you
make it happen. Just one action step each day can make this year your
best ever. Phyllis Sisenwine |
